| Abstract: In this paper, the cronical problems of computer laboratories which are commonly used on educational institutes will be investigated and an alternative solution to this problems will be provided. In this concept, firstly, PC Based Computer Laboratory’s problems will be investigated in details. Subsequently the Thin Client architecture–which claims that it solves all the problems of PC Based Solutions–will be investigated and the problems of this architecture will pointed out. After this point, our suggestion “Thin Client with Embedded Operating System” architecture will be given in detail and it’s improvements and their disadvantages will be listed. In the last section, cost matrix of a sample computer laboratory which is builded with 3 diffirent architecture will be listed in comperation chart. | |

| Characteristic usage of Turkish Internet Users in Office Environment | |

| Abstract: In this paper, a lawyer office’s network and internet traffic will be examined for determining the characteristics of users and network traffic load. In order to do that, some modifications on the lawyers office is made. Firstly, the switch which was previously used, replaced with a smart switch which can mirror traffic to a special port. Later, the office adsl modem is replaced with a modified Linux distribution. These linux device is used as a adsl modem/router for the network. This device also logged every incomming packet including the payload from it’s both interfaces. After a months full run, the data gathered is collected and analized. | |

| Abstract: As well known, the Open Source Software becomes the leading information technology day by day. There are open source alternatives of the most of the commercial softwares. In this case study, we will examine the open source software usage on the biggest municipality of Turkey; Çankaya Municipality. The IT department of the municipality uses open source software for various reasons and various places. The usage area includes both servers with internet services and desktop usage. In scope of this paper, the reasons of open source software selection and their usage places will be explained in detail for a case study. |

| Ortak Kullanım Amacı ile Oluşturulan Bilgisayar Laboratuvarları İçin Alternatif Bir Öneri | |

| Özet: Bu belge ile genel olarak eğitim kurumlarında kullanılmakta olan bilgisayar laboratuvarlarının kronik problemleri incelenecek ve bu problemlere alternatif bir çözüm önerisi getirilecektir. Bu bağlamda öncelikle mevcut PC tabanlı bilgisayar laboratuvarlarının problemleri detaylı olarak incelenecek ve tek tek bu problemlerin temeline inilecektir. Takiben, bu problemleri çözdüğünü iddia etmekte olan İnce İstemci (ing. Thin Client) mimarisi ele alınarak bu sistemler incelenecek ve problemleri ortaya konacaktır. Bu aşamalardan sonra, önerimiz olan “Gömülü İşletim Sistemli İnce İstemci” mimarisi ele alınacak ve getirdiği yenilikler ve bu yeniliklerin oluşturduğu dezavantajlar listelenecektir. Son kesimde ise 3 farklı mimari ile oluşturulmuş ortalama bir bilgisayar laboratuvarının maliyet çözümlemesi yapılacaktır. |
